Maintaining an active lifestyle is an important part of a healthy life. There are many benefits attached to leading an active and healthy lifestyle. Very often as people grow older they begin to lead a less active life. This leads to various ailments. Maintaining an active lifestyle is not that hard if you set your mind to it. Very often it has been seen that as people get older they gradually give up leading an active life. Becoming healthy is one topic on many peoples lips, “is the world really as unhealthy as health experts say” is a question asked by many. There are so many different views as to what is considered a healthy lifestyle. Here are five options included following.

1. Pick what results you want from a healthy lifestyle: Quite often many people want to loose weight and think that a healthy lifestyle will kick this into affect. This is true, with a good and healthy balance of eating and exercise. Other people consider other factors of a healthy lifestyle these being the social aspects of sporting and gym cultures, also just exiting the house for a common walk is considered healthy and could also prove to be a social aspect too.

2. Fast food or health food: Fast food has rapidly evolved over the last decade and is a more convenient option for people on the move. Along with the unhealthy options on menus all over the world, there are many fast food places seeing that a health food option is much better then an unhealthy option. There are now many dedicated outlets that specialize in healthy food for the benefit of weigh loss and also just for the benefit of a healthy lifestyle in general.

3. Gym and outdoor sports: The gym is fast becoming a very convenient option for the working household with many gyms now with a crèche facility you can make the gym a social outlet for the whole family while exercising. Regular exercise is important to maintain a healthy lifestyle. Gym is a very efficient and practical option to people who are unable to join sporting clubs due to the hours they work or because of other commitments. Home gyms and circuit training is also an option for people with limited time and can exercise on there own. All options provide a great option for a social outlet and also for self confidence boosting as healthy lifestyle will provide a lot more energetic and happiness with yourself and others in day to day life.

4. Social activities: Involving yourself in social activities is a great start to a healthy lifestyle not only does it give you a conversation but also the social life needed as a human. Whether your socialising with workmates after work enjoying a brew responsibly or running in the afternoon with a family member or girlfriend. A good responsible social life is what I consider a definite in a bid to enjoy a healthy lifestyle.

5. Doing research: One major step to a healthy life is considering all your options especially in regard to exercise and eating. Eating the right foods in moderation with a regular exercise routine is the most appropriate and the healthiest way to become healthy. You will notice many diets each of which is up to the individual person and whether you choose to implement a diet plan or stick with a healthy option of appropriate foods and regular exercise.

A healthy lifestyle is definitely a positive step in everyone’s life and hopefully you can take something from this article and use it for an advantageous result and head towards a healthier lifestyle.

Are You Living a Balanced Lifestyle?

You are what you eat? What a cliché. How about saying it in the more literal sense. “Your health will reflect back onto what you eat”? In fact a persons lifestyle will reflect back on them in every aspect of their life. The ideal standard for good health is a balanced lifestyle. Are you living a balanced lifestyle, physically, mentally, and spiritually? Here is how to tell.

Physical Lifestyle

Do you wake up in the morning feeling refreshed and well rested? Are you within your weight by ten pounds? Do you do a physical activity at least once a day to get your heart rate pumping? Perhaps you do one of these. Walk briskly for one hour, exercise or calisthenics, about 45 minutes, sport of your choice, or light aerobic exercise? The body needs physical exercise of some kind once a day. If you work at a desk job you should get up every hour and do some stretches to get the blood flowing. When you get home, take a walk or do some light aerobic exercise.

Do you eat at least four servings of raw fruits or vegetables in one day? Health-wise you should eat at least four servings of raw food a day. Most nutritionists say that eating a variety of colorful fruits and vegetables ensures you are receiving your daily intake of nutrients your body needs to stay healthy. An example of this is to eat a red apple with your breakfast, a green salad for lunch, a yellow orange for snack, and a purple cabbage slaw with dinner. You get the idea, right?

Emotional / Mental Lifestyle

Emotionally the balanced person does not feel in lack or in need for anything, even if they don’t have much. Having stuff is not where happiness lies. Stuff is great to have, no doubt about it, but if we are living our life, just going to work everyday so we can have more stuff that we really don’t need, there is an imbalance in our life. Besides work what else do you do? Do you have a hobby or other activity that you partake in?

Some people are mentally and emotionally sick because of past baggage. Perhaps they had an alcoholic parent, or perhaps they felt unloved and abandoned as a child. Whatever it is, you have to move on! Don’t keep bringing up a traumatic past when you have your future in front of you! That’s not right. Resolve your baggage and heal thyself. Live for today!

Mentally the balanced person feels good about who they are. They are generally have good relationships with others. Having good mental health does not mean you won’t ever have negative feelings, but that you won’t let your negative feelings to control you and your behavior. It’s normal to feel our emotions – that’s not what I’m talking about here. If a person is still dredging up the past from months or years ago, something is not mentally balanced within that person. If we have a negative past we have to resolve it and heal. Life is going to have its stresses and challenges. The mentally healthy face their challenges and resolve them instead of lingering in them.

Spiritual Lifestyle

Co-dependence, addictions, negative feelings, and inadequate relationship skills are because we are too dependent on how the world moves rather than on how God moves. We are too absorbed with the physical elements of our life rather than the spiritual. Where is the balance in that?

I’m not talking about organized religion here. Organized religion is for those people who like to have a guide helping them along the way towards whatever things spiritual they are seeking. Church is a great place to meet like-minded people but church can also stunt your growth. Church leaders are only seed planters, if even that. Once the seed is in your heart and in your mind only your relationship with your Creator will make the seed grow.

I (Paul) planted the seed, Apollos watered it, but God made it grow. So neither he who plants nor he who waters is anything, but only God who makes things grow.

(1 Corinthians 3:6,7)

When someone is new at accepting Christ, by all means they should “go to church” and learn the basic concepts about God and how God works in their life. But eventually that person has to grow and mature spiritually “in the Lord” and going to church is not where that is. Your relationship with God, through your prayers, thoughts, actions, and lifestyle is church! Church is in your heart and mind wherever you may be, and whenever you want it to be. Your spirituality is what you make it to be.

Yet a time is coming and has now come when the true worshipers will worship the Father in spirit and truth, for they are the kind of worshippers the Father seeks. God is spirit and his worshippers must worship in spirit and in truth. (John 423,24)

Your physical, mental, emotional and spiritual health is a precious commodity. Your body and mind is aging every day. That means you’re not getting any younger. All areas of your health will decline faster if you don’t take care of your health now! You can be in control of your health, if you take control.

Healthy Living – Improving Your Lifestyle

Nowadays we are all victims of the hectic schedules which include lots of homework, projects, work, house chores among many others activities that intervene with us having an active, healthy lifestyle. Although difficult, it is not impossible to squeeze some time in into our busy schedules and indulge in some type of physical activity.

Regardless if you work full-time or if you are a stay-at-home parent, it is imperative to take some time out, relax and improve our way of living. Having a healthy lifestyle doesn’t require drastic changes. By making some minor improvements and adjustments in the way you do things, you can alternate the way your life and maximize your performance.

The trick to healthy living is making small changes. As small as your physical activity is, it will certainly be better than waking up, going to work, having lunch, getting home, grabbing dinner and slouching on the couch. Any type of activity will start pumping your metabolism and giving you more energy to get your daily duties done. If all you do is go to work and/or school, it is not enough. You need to get rid of that lack of activity, move around and improve your way of living. Once you start getting use to exercising, you can then start adding up some time to your routines and maximize your results.

All you need to do is compromise with yourself that you will be making some changes. You don’t necessary need to move to another city to improve your lifestyle; you can start right at home. But, if you decide to leave behind the negativity in your life and relocate elsewhere, look up for some extra help. Hiring professional moving services will actually give you more time to focus on yourself. You don’t necessary need to get full services.

You can actually pack your own belongings and have the movers relocate them to your new home. Walking up and down the stairs and pacing back and forth, will actually help you. You can then let the moving companies handle the actual move of your possessions.

You don’t want to overwork yourself. Once you move into your new place of lodging, you can keep up with the healthy ways you recently picked on and keep improving your lifestyle. Even if you are not relocating to a new destination, you can make these changes in your place of living and have a happy, healthy, and renovated health style.

Some other things you can actually pursue are the following:

Keep a balance diet- You will be able to loose unwanted pounds or maintain your figure. Not only that, but you will also be able to improve your health and therefore your lifestyle.

Get the exercise you need- As we mentioned before, exercising is the key to a balance life.

Get your eight hours of sleep- if you do not get your good night sleep, you will not only be dragging yourself to and from work every day, but you will also be risking your health.

Get healthy snacks and bring them to work- instead of running to the vending machine and getting some Cheetos or Doritos, bring your own healthy snacks; you might even keep them in your drawer.

Grilled Chicken- If you have to eat at a fast food, this is the way to go. Although the fact that you are eating at a fast food is not healthy at all, at least you are not in-taking that excess of calories.

Create Your Ideal Lifestyle

lifestyle reflects our beliefs, attitudes, customs, behaviors, and values. A lifestyle can fill us with joy, keep us healthy, and allow us to become more successful. It can also contribute to illness or hold us back from the things we are capable of accomplishing.

Fortunately, we can choose actions and habits that keep us happy, healthy, and successful. We have that choice daily.

Maltbie Babcock summarized this very elegantly when she wrote, “A day dawns, quite like other days; in it, a single hour comes, quite like other hours; but in that day and in that hour the chance of a lifetime faces us.”

That chance, however, presents a challenge. A familiar lifestyle is not easy to leave behind, even when negative habits or tolerations make it uncomfortable. Doug Firebaugh wisely said, “Something must die in order to grow – your old habits, your old self image, your old thinking, your old life… must be weeded out for the seeds of success to grow.”

People want to be free from the consequences of their vices, but not necessarily from their vices. Many attempt changes that are too large to be realistic. Others try to change too many things at once. Old behaviors creep back very quickly.

For example, if it would burden you to carry out a new action on a regular basis, it is probably not a realistic change. Smaller changes carried out regularly more often lead to lasting change. Begin with one new action that can become a regular lifestyle behavior. Then look for tangible results from that change.

If you are not already living your ideal lifestyle, take time to think deeply about the following questions. Then write your answers in a journal. This exercise will help you create a clear picture of your ideal lifestyle. It will also help you to design a plan to begin creating the lifestyle that you want.

What is my current lifestyle?

How have my beliefs created that lifestyle?

What is my current lifestyle costing me?

If my lifestyle were to become ideal, what differences would I notice immediately in the major areas of my life?

For example, what would you be doing differently on a daily basis? What habits would you adopt, and what habits would you discard? Consider the changes you would notice in these areas:

  • Relationships (Family and Career)
  • Home environment
  • Wellness and self-care
  • Energy level
  • Serenity and inner stillness
  • Finances
  • Rest and relaxation
  • Temperament
  • Happiness and contentment

How would I look and feel most of the time if I lived my ideal lifestyle?

What tolerations, habits of thought, and actions are limiting me from living my ideal lifestyle?

What would it require of me to remove those limitations?

What is the first thing in my current lifestyle that I would truly like to change or improve?

Am I willing to commit to the necessary changes in thought and action to live my ideal lifestyle, and if so, when will I begin to make the first change?

How will I feel when I have adopted new habits of thought and action?

What is one positive change I could comfortably make today?

This exercise will open your mind to the possibilities and options available to you for positive change. When you have a clear picture of your goal and the changes needed, you can begin moving forward toward a lifestyle that will bring you more success in all the important areas of your life.

These questions might lead to additional questions you will need to answer. You will need to evaluate your progress on a regular basis, make changes in your initial plan, and adjust your actions accordingly.
